What is the monthly fee?
 
Our monthly rate for unlimited internet access is $12.50 in over 50,000 cities including Hawaii, Alaska and Canada. 

Can I pay monthly? 
Yes, the majority of our members pay monthly. Though there is no discount for signing up for more than one month at a time, you certainly can pay annually or bi-annually if you prefer.

What forms of payment does SurfBest accept? 
SurfBest can accept payment from credit or debit cards with the Mastercard or Visa logo. We also accept checks.

When do you charge my credit card? 
We prorate your first month at 42¢ per day for the remainder of that month, as well as the next month in advance. Thereafter, we charge you within the last seven days of each month for the month to come.

What credit cards do you accept? 
We accept Visa and MasterCard. 

How many e-mail addresses do I get? 
SurfBest.net service includes 5 FREE e-mail addresses. If you need more than 5, a $1.00 charge per e-mail address per month will apply. 

When is SurfBest.net customer service and technical support available? 
SurfBest Technical Support is available Mon - Thurs, 7:30am to 1am, and 7:30am to 11pm Fri - Sundays.

How do I get in touch with customer service and technical support? 
They can be reached at surfbest@surfbest.net, or you can submit your information (Both Technical or Billing -
related issues) via our online forms.  Our goal is to answer all form and email requests in a timely manner. 

Spamming policies 
SurfBest has a very strict anti-spam policy. Our Mail servers are configured to automatically shut down any
account that sends over 200 messages per hour, or any one message with over 50 recipients. This is true
regardless of whether or not the emails are solicited or not, as the mail server
Please be sure to read our Use Policy to be fully aware of the consequences of spamming. 

Are there any long distance charges when using SurfBest.net? 
We suggest that you check with your local phone company to make sure that the number you dial to use SurfBest.net is a local call.  Under no circumstances will SurfBest.net reimburse for long distance charges. 

Do you have group rates?

Does SurfBest provide software? 
Yes, SurfBest has a setup utility. It is not a stand-alone dialer, but rather configures Dial-Up Networking, a
component of Windows, as well as Outlook Express for your email. The software is now compatible with
Windows 95, 98, ME, XP, and 2000. It is not compatible with any Mac or Linux systems - they have to be
configured manually. SurfBest does not provide browsers or email client software. You will need a browser, such
as Internet Explorer or Netscape. We do have web-based email on our website.

Is the software easy to set up? 
The set-up runs like most programs.  You just need to enter some basic information, like name and password. 

Can I block adult or other material? 
You may use filtering software to block material that you find objectionable or you do not want members of your family viewing. We now offer filtered service on our SFB2 network. Because of the work involved in consistently updating the filters, the charge for filtered service is $17.95 per month. You can choose filtered service at signup, or contact our tech support to change if you're already an existing customer.

Are there any penalties for canceling the service? 
No, we never charge a cancellation penalty.  If we do not live up to YOUR expectations, then we do not deserve your business. 

How long does it take to get my account activated? 
We always try to setup accounts as quickly as possible. On average, new accounts take 4 hours to activate. During times of high sign-up volume, it may take as long as twelve hours.

Is SurfBest.net service compatible with a Web TV box? 
Yes, but there may be fees associated with the use of your current WebTV box if their box is used with SurfBest.net service. SurfBest can be used with WebTV, but we do not provide support in the setup or configuration of WebTV devices.

Does SurfBest.net service include access to any search engines? 
SurfBest does not have search engines on it's main webpage, but you can access thousands of search engines through your SurfBest connection.

I have two computers. Can I be online with both at the same time with one account? 
No. Only one simultaneous connection can be supported per $12.50 access fee. 

Does SurfBest.net have any chat rooms? 
Unfortunately, we do not have chat rooms at this time.

Who provides SurfBest.net with its backbone to the Internet? 
SurfBest utilizes the internet and frame-relay backbone of WorldCom/UUNET and several other backbone suppliers. 

Is SurfBest.net setup software Macintosh compatible? 
SurfBest's setup software is not currently compatible with Macintosh computers. However, you can connect to SurfBest with Macintosh computers, and we do have a Mac Specialist who can guide you through the manual configuration.

How fast is SurfBest.net? 
Very fast! SurfBest.net uses the latest in modem technology.  All SurfBest.net connections are via 56k compliant modems. 

How often will I get a busy signal? 
Not often!  SurfBest.net does everything possible to maintain easy access to the internet.

How often does your server go down? 
Not often. Our servers are completely redundant. When one goes down, another one picks up right where it left off. 

Can I get SurfBest.net in my area even though you do not currently supply service in my area? 
Yes. We need a commitment from a certain number of people to move an area up on our priority list. E-mail us with your phone number and e-mail address. We will add that to our database to help us determine which areas to prioritize. 

What is my discount for pre-paying for my SurfBest.net service? 
Our monthly rate of $12.50 is so low, we cannot offer a pre-payment discount.  With SurfBest.net, you only need to pay for one month at a time. There is no need to pay for 3, 6 or even 12 months up front. 

What does 10 Megabytes of web hosting mean? 
Ten megabytes of web hosting is provided for those individuals and small business customers that have, or wish to have a web site. Your web address will be: http://members.surfbest.net/yourpage@surfbest.net/ 

Is the FREE web site hosting for personal or business use? 
It can be used for either purpose. There is a maximum monthly transfer rate of 1 Gigabyte, so this option does not usually work for larger companies. 

Does SurfBest.net offer ISDN or other high speed access? 
No. We do not offer this at this time. 

How easily can I get access to news, sports, stock quotes, hobbies, etc… ? 
With the simple push of a button! SurfBest.net offers a comprehensive contents service that includes all of these services and more! 

Can I get a 30-day free trial, or 100 free hours with SurfBest.net? 
SurfBest.net monthly rate of $12.50 is so low we cannot offer free trials. With the quality of service, and the value offered by SurfBest.net, we simply can’t afford to give our access away without raising everyone’s price.

How often will the process of downloading files across the net be interrupted or terminated prematurely?  
Ideally this would never happen. Many times when it does happen it is a problem with the server sending or holding the data and not the ISP. 

Can I remain online for unlimited time without disconnecting? 
A user will automatically be disconnected after 4 hours. You can dial in and reconnect within two minutes. 

What is the limitation on the size of files that can be attached to e-mail? 
File size may be up to 1 megabytes and all file types are allowed.
